THE HISTORY OF MARKSTONE
We have been working in the industry for more than 3 decades
Back in 2006, Jonathan began taking over Markstone from his father Donald. Creating a business from his hobby, Donald diversified away from farming in the 80's to buying and selling slate, granite and architectural reclamation. Donald was ecstatic when Jonathan decided to take on the business as it meant he could start taking things a bit easier! Not long after, as the business started to grow, Jonathan's wife Clare also joined the team, organising the day to day running of the business and carrying out all the office duties.
Well known for their auctions, held three times a year, Markstone made the decision to stop holding auctions to enable the business to expand in other directions. With large quantities of quality products in stock, Jonathan & Clare now offer a wide range of products. A lot of their stock they import direct from their suppliers in Brazil, India, Portugal & France, taking the business forward to higher levels whilst still being able to offer competitive prices. They constantly monitor what their customer are asking for and continually add further products to their range as the market dictates it.
As the business has expanded they have taken on more staff to do deliveries and help around the yard. Sadly Donald passed away in 2015 but recently Robert, Jonathan's brother, has joined the team so the business is still very much a family affair!
